Activated carbon for clear pond and aquarium water

This high-quality activated carbon is an efficient filter medium for koi ponds, garden ponds, aquariums and quarantine systems. Its highly porous structure provides an exceptionally large internal surface area on which numerous unwanted substances can be adsorbed from the water.

Activated carbon is particularly suitable for removing organic contaminants, discolouration, unpleasant odours, medication residues, pesticides and various hydrocarbon compounds. It can be used after a completed medication treatment to remove remaining active ingredients from the pond water.

High purity and strong adsorption capacity

This acid-washed and highly activated formed carbon is manufactured from selected steam-activated coal. Intensive washing and neutralisation result in a low ash content, a high degree of purity and pH-neutral behaviour in the water.

Its large pore volume and excellent wettability allow rapid and effective adsorption. The activated carbon is therefore suitable for pond and aquarium filters as well as more demanding water-treatment applications.

Suitable for neutralising residual ozone

When an ozone unit is used, activated carbon can provide an additional safety stage. Residual ozone is chemically broken down shortly after coming into contact with the activated carbon. This helps prevent unwanted ozone from entering the pond or aquarium.

Dosage and application

10 litres of activated carbon are sufficient for approximately 10'000 litres of water. When a particularly rapid effect is required, 10 litres can also be used for approximately 5'000 litres of water.

Place the activated carbon evenly inside a suitable filter media bag or filter chamber and ensure that water flows through it effectively. Rinsing the carbon briefly with clean water before use is recommended to remove any loose carbon dust.

The effective service life depends on the level of contamination in the water and the quantity of carbon used. In heavily contaminated water, replacement may be necessary after only a few weeks. Activated carbon cannot be regenerated and should be replaced after approximately three months at the latest.

Important application information

Activated carbon must be completely removed from the water circuit during medication treatments. Otherwise, it may adsorb the active ingredients and reduce the effectiveness of the treatment.
